Pharrell Williams And Adidas Are Teaming Up For A ‘Long-Term Partnership’

The critical and pop cultural success of Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories ushered in a new era for both the Parisian duo and their unlikely collaborator, Pharrell Williams. Between joining forces with Daft Punk, creating “Happy”‘s 24-hour music video and auctioning off his Grammys hat to Arby’s, the 40-year-old musician-meets-entrepreneur has had a huge year—and now, he’s extending it by venturing into the fashion world.

cn_image.size.pharrell-adidasHe’s already set to collaborate with Comme de Garçons on a fragrance and with Uniqlo on a line of tees, but Adidas announced on Thursday that they’ve also nabbed him for a “long-term partnership,” due out this summer.

What’s cooler is the yet-to-be-named line will showcase Pharrell’s fabric company—because, no, he’s not already busy enough. Called Bionic Yarn, the venture creates cloth from plastic debris found in oceans.

“Working with an iconic brand like Adidas is such an incredible opportunity,” Williams wrote in a statement. “From the classic track suit to growing up in Virginia wear Stan Smiths, Adidas has been a staple in my life. Their pieces are timeless. This is an exciting partnership for both me and Bionic Yarn.”
